This weekend in Fort Worth, I will be speaking at WordCamp DFW. WordCamp is a friendly, unstuffy conference that focuses on everything involving WordPress, which is free, open-source internet publishing software used by more than 75 million sites on the web. Talks at these conferences range anywhere from how-tos on blogging, to customized software development with WordPress, to operating a company with the content management system. Anyone is welcome to attend and learn, and there are sessions for both beginners and experienced users that have been using WordPress for years.
I’ll be speaking on “Getting SEO Advantages from Social Media” on Sunday at 4:00pm. My session will be useful for both novices and veterans of SEO and Social Media.
As I described my presentation:
In this session, both the technically advanced and novices may learn techniques for increasing the visibility of both websites and blogs through the use of social media. This will focus heavily upon Facebook and Twitter, but we will also touch upon some other primary social media networks.
There is a persistent myth that Social Media is not directly valuable for search engine optimization, but the truth is that there are definite advantages and optimizations that can be accomplished if you know what you are doing. Robust Social Media development can have a direct and positive influence on the rankings of your webpages in Google and Bing.
If you’ve ever asked anything similar to “How do I get into blogging?” or “How do I set up my website?”, then you should attend WordCamp DFW. There are a small handful of internet marketing and technology events in the greater Dallas Fort Worth area, and this one is one of the least expensive and most valuable you will find locally.
There are still admission tickets available, and they are so inexpensive ($40) for the value that one can get from the two-day conference that there’s no excuse for not attending!
